Rogy Productions loves creating films, and over the last three years, we have proudly served as the production service company for Executive Producer Vic Quinton of Witt and Wittier Films. Our film journey with Vic began with the short film Kielia. Kielia marked his first project for a film as an executive producer, co-director, and co-writer. From there, his career continued to evolve, ultimately leading him to take on the role of director for the feature film The Blue Moon Rising.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Kielia was its journey to completion. We were faced with tight schedules and constant pressures of travel logistics, lighting, and time. Vic Quinton did an exceptional job casting Rusty Joiner and Ashley Seal, whose on-screen chemistry brought a natural cohesion to their performances, and quicker process to film. Thankfully, the cast & crew proved to be a great team that helped the production meet the deadlines. Which proved to be a true testament to the resilience and dedication of everyone involved.

After Kielia’s release, it went on to achieve significant success, earning numerous awards. It received the prestigious Silver Remi Award at the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival. Kielia also won Best Short Film at several festivals, including Italy’s Ponza Film Festival, the Christian Film Festival, and the Freedom Christian Film Festival.

Notably, it earned Best Cinematography at the Fiesta SATX Film & Music Festival, awarded to Rogy Productions’ Director of Photography, Rogelio Zamora Chavez. Additionally, Kielia received Best Actor honors for Rusty Joiner at both the Christian Film Festival and the Sweden Film Awards. Lastly, Ashley Seal also won Best Actress at Great Lakes Christian Film Festival.

These awards and many more not mentioned, inspired Executive Producer Vic Quinton to move forward with his next project alongside our incredible cast and crew. He produced his first feature film, The Blue Moon Rising, serving as both Executive Producer, Director and Co-Writer.

Filming The Blue Moon Rising

The Blue Moon Rising was Quinton’s first feature film. Notably, he was executive producer, director, and co- writer. Quinton secured fantastic locations for the movie. Therefore we were able to film in the city of Giddings, Texas and at Grimm Ranch, both locations that proved to be very helpful to tell this wonderful story.

He also did an amazing job assembling a talented cast who elevated the movie. Quinton brought back lead actor Rusty Joiner and Ashley Seal, while also adding additional talent such as Swayde McCoy, Ashley Rozzi, and John Fennessy to name a few. All who were crucial to the story and brought their own spark to The Blue Moon Rising.

The Rogy Productions team further strengthened The Blue Moon Rising with a skilled crew. Key Roles consisted of Director of Photography Rogelio Zamora Chavez, Assistant Director Gisell Zamora, Second Camera Dustin Baker, Gaffer and Key Grip Jessica Martinez, and sound recordist Esteven Rodriguez. Finally, Quinton brough MUA/H, SFX Artist Cris E Vera. All crew members who do film production in Texas. With a high caliber cast & crew and fantastic locations, Quinton proved his ability to deliver an outstanding production.

Fun Facts of The Blue Moon Rising

One interesting aspect of the production is that a second unit was used to film the children’s scenes months before principal photography began. We had had a great time filming in second unit, but it is always an adventure filming with children.

In principal photography we did have some issues, something that is quite common in the production world. One of them that we will always remember was, when a scene that required a fire, started earlier than expected and we had to use our time very efficiently. Second when we realized that the week we were filming there would be a festival towards the end of the week and we had to make sure that we had logistics perfected to not overlap with the festival. Overall we enjoyed the creativity, skill, and experience this movie brought us.
